Send us the sample. We’ll deposit the film.

When you need an ALD or MLD coating but not a tool of your own, our Littleton, MA foundry handles rapid-turn runs. Use this option for one-off films, small batches, or qualifying a process before you invest in a system.

What we do

Rapid-turn ALD & MLD coating.

Our foundry runs the same GEMStar and PRIME systems we sell, operated by the people who know them best. That means production-grade process control on your substrates, with the flexibility a research timeline needs.

Typical jobs range from a handful of wafers to powder and 3D-part batches, across oxide, nitride, metal, and hybrid organic-inorganic (MLD) chemistries.

Need a film that doesn’t exist yet, or better performance from one that does? That’s a Joint Development Program.

Capabilities & substrates

What we can coat.

  • Substrates: wafers up to 300mm, powders, porous media, fibers, and 3D parts.
  • Chemistries: Al₂O₃, TiO₂, SnO₂, ZnO, HfO₂, Pt, and many more — thermal, plasma-enhanced, and MLD.
  • Process modes: thermal ALD, plasma-enhanced ALD, and molecular layer deposition.
  • Documentation & metrology: a process summary with every job. Film characterization is taken from silicon witness coupons run alongside your parts: typically post-process ellipsometry (thickness and optical properties) representative of the film deposited in that run. In-situ QCM (quartz crystal microbalance) monitoring is available during deposition, and we support third-party metrology on request.

How it works

From sample to coated part.

1

Tell us the job

Substrate, target film and thickness, and your timeline. We confirm feasibility and a quote.

2

Send your sample

Ship to Littleton, MA with the prep notes we provide. We confirm receipt.

3

We coat & verify

We run your process on a GEMStar or PRIME system and check the result.

4

Parts back to you

Coated parts returned with a process summary — typically on a rapid-turn schedule.

Joint Development Programs

From a coating on demand to a film developed with you.

Not every job is a known film on a known substrate. When the process doesn’t exist yet, or an existing one needs to hit a harder target, our foundry runs it as a Joint Development Program: Arradiance scientists working alongside your team, on the same GEMStar and PRIME systems we build, to take a coating from idea to a repeatable result. The work spans a range:

  • Coat to your spec. Deposit a specified film at a target thickness on your parts (the standard rapid-turn service).
  • Improve device performance. Tune the film, interface, or process to move a real device metric, not just the coating itself.
  • Develop new films or film stacks. Engineer multilayers and nanolaminates for a target electrical, optical, or barrier property.
  • Develop new chemistries. Qualify and develop new precursors and ALD/MLD processes for materials that aren’t on the shelf.

Arradiance has co-developed functional nanofilms across microchannel plates, solid-oxide fuel-cell and supercapacitor electrodes, optical coatings, and superconducting nanolaminates, several protected by issued patents. Tell us the property you need, and we’ll tell you whether it’s a run or a program.
